Arvel Bird
Celtic Fusion - with a Native Twist www.arvelbird.com
Arvel Bird, a violinist and Native American flutist, is known around the world for his dramatic connection between Celtic and Native American traditions, stirring up scenes that echo from North American memory. Dubbed “Lord of the Strings” by fans and music critics, his music evokes the soul of North American history and is thoroughly entertaining, but also enlightening and humanizing. In a language and experience that captures the hearts of all audiences, he’s emotional without being condescending, intellectual without being pretentious. One measure of any art form is when the medium is so mastered that it becomes transparent, allowing its message to be seen, heard and felt. Arvel Bird has achieved that mastery.
His continuously evolving music is delighting audiences worldwide. His most recent album, Celtic Nation released in September 2011, is a fusion of traditional cultural music, with an edgier rock feel and a stronger, more soulful sound.
Although based in Nashville, TN, Bird is permanently on the road, connecting with audiences the old-fashioned way. . . live. This is where Arvel’s emotionally driven performances thrive, igniting concert venues, symphony halls, festivals and more, leaving his audiences inspired, transfixed and transformed.
Tuesday, December 20, 2011 - 6pm "Havin' a Blast" is celebrating it's two year anniversary in our current configuration -- Gail Trader singing bass, Elissa Fazio singing lead, Eileen Fernstrom on baritone and Molly Jean Gerbi as tenor. With Eileen's new avocation as a nursing student taking precedence, we were unable to compete on the Regional stage this past year, but we've been kept busy with building our repertoire and doing lots of performances. We look forward to getting better and better at our craft and representing Tucson Desert Harmony and this wonderful art form in the best possible light, every time we sing for an audience. Of course, we still manage to have lots of laughs together and live up to our name whether at rehearsal or in public! Contact Elissa at 326-1449 to inquire about booking "Havin' a Blast's" style of a cappella entertainment for any occasion. If you would like to be a part of the “Art and Music Series” please download the application and send it to:
