Alan Biel
Hidden Skies https://hiddenskies.com Photography Alan views galaxies and nebulae from the Hidden Skies Observatory in Sierra Vista. The rich colors and exquisite shapes of these galaxies and nebulae are emphasized to connect us to the hidden universe surrounding our world. He has linked the galaxies and nebulae to their zodiac positions, thus creating a link between the observer and the objects. Instead of being part of an unknowable, impersonal universe, these objects become linked with each person's birthday and, therefore part of their world. A native of Glencoe, IL, Alan earned a Ph.D. in microbiology at Purdue Univ. During his almost 40 years in academics, he has worked at colleges, universities, and medical schools throughout the U.S. and Caribbean. His latest move, to southeast Arizona in 2017, revealed to him the beautiful dark skies of the desert Southwest. It wasn't long before he traded in his microscope for a telescope, built an observatory in his backyard, and began spending many late nights observing the hidden beauty of the deep sky. His artwork combines the science of astronomy with Art to emphasize the rich colors and exquisite shapes of these galaxies and nebulae. |

He worked in production pottery houses in Arizona and New York before starting his own business. His work can be seen at fine art shows throughout the Southwest and in galleries from Santa Fe to Zion. He has combined ancient firing techniques with modern glaze development and won various awards at the St. George Art Festival over the years. Roger won Best in Show at Winterfest in Lake Havasu. |

Crystal D'llusions http://www.crystaldllusions.com/ Jewelry Designs are cast in sterling silver from wax or metal prototypes then set with opals & gemstones or inlaid with stones, many of which are unique such as larimar & sigillate. In 1989, Bill moved to Colorado and got a job at a crystal jewelry shop on the Pearl Street mall in Boulder. There he met three jewelers who would teach him various ways of making jewelry. The first was a goldsmith who taught him how to hand fabricate pieces in silver and gold. The second, a silversmith he learned, lost wax casting, enabling him to produce items in quantity. Finally, he met a Navajo Indian from New Mexico who taught him how to inlay semiprecious stones. Bill has combined his extensive experience apprenticing and the knowledge he has acquired through the years into his own unique style. |

Tracy Foltz
Zinnia Sky Studio https://zinniaskystudio.com Painting Tracy creates bright, fun, and simple paintings inspired by life outside. Using birds, flowers, plants, landscape features, and all things from nature, she uses her paintbrush to add an extra pop of color and a bit of humor to make walls and people happy. Tracy, a transplanted Midwesterner, is totally and deeply in love with the Sonoran desert. She has always created Art but she and her husband restructured their lives so that Art can now create their lives. She loves fun, bright, happy, whimsical things and believes that her desert subjects benefit from her interpretations of them. I work primarily in watercolor but in vivid saturation, perfectly complemented by black ink to further release the colors. The uniqueness of her work lies in its own simplicity. Many times the subject is the only thing in the composition while leaving backgrounds in white. |
