Blues / R & B
The Coolers were conceived by Rex Caughron and Gary Love who began assembling the members at the end of 2006. The original nine member line-up was firmed up in spring of 2009 and the band debuted in late April of that year. Driven by either a 3-4 piece horn section, the band’s sound moves seamlessly from old school blues & swing ala T-Bone Walker, to the Texas blues/R&B of Delbert McClinton, to thumping soul (Etta James, Aretha), and finally to the early funk of James Brown and Sly Stone. Add to that a handful of original tunes, a touch of soul-jazz and interestingly re-worked arrangements and you begin to get a feel for what the band is all about. While producing quality music is essential, the bottom line for the Coolers is to entertain their audience and pack the dance floor and since their debut, the Coolers have been firing up dance floors around southern Arizona. In 2010 the band performed in the 2010 SABHF Blues Festival where they opened up for Janiva Magness and was the featured act for the 2011 Silver City Blues Festival kick-off. The band released their first CD, “Listen Here” in late 2012 and it has been in steady rotation on local community radio station, KXCI, since then.
Rex Caughron retired in 2016 and The Coolers are excited with the addition of our newest member, David Bynes.

Heart & Soul
The Heart & Soul Duo consists of Gary Roberts and EJ Loveres. EJ plays acoustic guitar and has a voice that has been compared to Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson. His voice is sweet, expressive and soulful. Gary Roberts plays either electric bass or electric guitar and lays down the rhythm, nailing the groove to the ground. Gary sings lead vocals and harmonies as well. Gary, a studied music scholar from his college days brings a wealth of musical versatility to the sonic soundscape. The Duo serves up a sound that is greater than the sum of its parts. Their repertoire includes a wide range of music ranging from current/top 40 music to funky soulful contemporary music to blues, rock and more. They play songs that are timeless and that many of you know by Heart and Soul.

The Jim Howell Band
Rock, Pop, Blues, Country
Versatile multi-instrumentalist performer and singer/songwriter, Jim Howell, ably drives the band on guitar, harmonica and lead vocals. Jim is known as an award winning sideman on drums, and other instruments, for many local, regional, national and international touring acts including REY, The Mission Creeps, The Wyatts, Rich Hopkins & Luminarios, and Truck. In this excursion, he fuels his own brand of Arizona & Texas flavored country with the power of soul and the gears of rock. While steeped in the arid desert sounds of his native Tucson, the band’s sound road-trips to the humid sounds of Memphis,
Motown, Nashville, Bakersfield, New Orleans, and Austin.
