SAHUARITA ART ON THE LAKE FESTIVALJanuary 13, 202410am-4pmThe inaugural Sahuarita Art on the Lake Festival will feature immersive and experiential activities throughout the Sahuarita Lake Park. Browse local artwork for sale, street painting, interactive art activities, performance art, community chalk mural competition, food trucks, and live music throughout the park. This one-day celebration of the arts will bring creativity to a new level in Sahuarita, AZ.
WHY?The Sahuarita Art on the Lake Festival supports a goal to build community through arts programming, creating a space for a large number of artisans to exhibit and sell their work in a supportive and professional environment. The festival impacts tourism and economic development in Sahuarita, supporting businesses, artisans and the community.

Open to the public, this unique destination has beautiful scenery, public art, a walking path and fishing (Arizona Game & Fish regularly stocks the lake with several species of fish!). The Lakeside Live Concert Series is one of the fun, free events hosted here.

PERFORMANCES
Art on the Lake Festival will feature a full lineup of performances at the Sahuarita Lake Amphitheater. A colorful and unique blend of music, dance, puppetry and performance art will unfold throughout the day including Mexican Folk Dance, immersive avant-garde, and classical symphonic music. FEATURED ART INSTALLATIONS
On January 14, Sahuarita Lake Park will burst with color and creativity as three large-scale art installations are unveiled. Nogales muralist Tony Plak has created a gigantic desert-themed ground mural on the Amphitheater Stage. Sahuarita based artist Pen Macias has teamed up with Tucsonan Wesley Creigh to design a massive chalk-letter mural spelling out SAHUARITA. Attendees can watch the two artists complete the mural during the event. Finally, Sahuarita Lake itself will turn into a work of art with an animal-themed floating art installation. COMMUNITY CHALK ART COMPETITION
Community members are encouraged to create their own chalk art inspired by the day’s festivities! Participants can sign up at the event to create their own signature mural onsite. Chalk and supplies will be provided onsite. Three community winners will be chosen at 3:30 PM in each of the following categories and recognized on social media and receive a $100 gift card.

KIDS ART ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY ARTS
Youth Printmaking Station with See Create Art (Sophie Ellefson) - 10 AM - 4 PM Students will have the opportunity to design their own image, trace it onto printing foam, and then print it 4 times on a paper using different colors. They will use brayers to roll the ink out, and barens to press the image onto the paper. The Comic BookMobile A personalized kids show with a human cartoon character LIVE! Frank Powers teaches the simple shapes hidden in cartooning as well as the sequence of a good panel to panel stories for Comic Books and Comic Strips!
