Artist: Laura Thurbon Completed Fall 2023 Laura Thurbon is a Professional Artist, Muralist, Marketer and a well-rounded, seasoned Art educator. Her primary studies were in Lima, Peru graduating as an Art Teacher, and Professional Artist after 8 years of intense instruction at the National Fine Arts School of Lima. Laura has won many art awards, and her artwork is part of several worldwide collections in the United States, South America, Europe, Israel, and India. She has many Published works, and Public Murals around the South West United States. Laura also has provided Art Education for students in K-12 (private and charter schools) and adult education courses in a community college totaling more than 20 years. With a successful record of accomplishment working as a public relations representative, educator, and independent business owner, Laura brings her expansive experience, contemporary marketing skills, her knowledge of cultural diversity, and applies these as vehicles with which to engage people of all ages. She creates a wide variety of marketing materials and Websites, and incorporates her professional Photography knowledge generating beautiful artistic designs. |

Sahuarita Lake Park Amphitheatre – Sahuarita, Arizona
Artist: Tato Completed Fall 2023 Tato Caraveo is known for his colorful murals that line the streets of downtown Phoenix. He got his start when the owner of a local theater visited his art class at South Mountain High School and invited the students to practice mural painting on the side of his business. Caraveo and his friend took him up on the offer, a moment that changed his life. He shows Alberto his murals, describes how his technique is different from other muralists and explains why murals have become such an important part of downtown Phoenix. |

Artist: Ignacio Garcia Completed Fall 2023 Ignacio Garcia is well known throughout the Southwest for his 3D chalk street art commissions, large photo-realistic murals, and modern visual art collections of original works. More recently, his studio art finds inspiration from his street art and Arizona roots. Garcia is an artistic studies graduate of East Valley Institute of Technology in Mesa, Arizona, and the Gnomon Workshop in Hollywood, California. “I find inspiration from Artist Mark Bradford and Gerald Richter and offer my innovative and unique point of view; a fundamental motivation of my work is to challenge my audience’s and my point of view.” Ignacio’s craft thrives on the emotional and physical reaction it induces in the viewers. The research, reflection, and exploration of a topic that precedes a finished piece of work are meant to invoke authentic, unpredictable, and organic responses from each of its audience. |
