Mission and Vision of Project A collaborative Creative Arts Therapy integration project between Watermark Communities and the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance.
Watermark Communities: Creating Extraordinary Communities Where People Thrive The Creative Arts Therapy program aims to improve the quality of life of all residents through the application of creative and dynamic arts programming. The program will be rooted in innovative life-long learning and education practices through the application of the creative arts into the daily lives of residents. The program will also engage a more comprehensive approach to the healing, and rehabilitation process through skilled arts therapy programming onsite.
We know the impact the arts have each day in our community.
More than anything, we see first-hand how the arts improve the lives of individuals by using a creative aging approach. We partner with local retirement, assisted living and independent senior facilities to provide arts instruction and classes with the goal of improving quality of life support and life-long learning initiatives.
SAACA partners with the Fountains at La Cholla to bring rotating monthly gallery exhibitions. The work featured ranges from local emerging artists, photography, as well as mission-based programming including quilting, sweater weaving and resident featured exhibitions.
Facilitating the use of ground-breaking Creative Arts Therapies, SAACA partners with local artists who utilize an integrative method to provide healing through the arts using music, writing, visual arts and community arts components.
MUSIC & MEMORY
In 2015, the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance partnered with MUSIC & MEMORY℠, to bring this life changing program to Southern Arizona.
SAACA administers the program in local memory care facilities in the region.
The approach is simple, elegant and effective: Set up personalized music playlists for those in memory care programs and residences and download the selections on iPods or other digital devices. When played, these musical favorites tap deep memories not lost to dementia and can bring participants back to life, enabling them to feel like themselves again, to converse, socialize and stay present.
Facilitating year-round arts programming which welcomes families to the Fountains, integrating art, music and community as a primary means of connection.
The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the creation, preservation and advancement of the Arts. SAACA strengthens the bonds between people, place and purpose through collaborative, arts-driven experiences.
