The main product I create is a unique, designer applique pillow made with high quality fabrics.  Working  with a wide variety of fabrics allows me to create unique color, texture, and design combinations.   I am  inspired by the flora, fauna, color and texture of the natural world.   My techniques include machine sewing, raw edge applique, free motion and hand embroidery.  My work  is whimsical and joyful, filled with color and texture, and expertly crafted.

More than a painting, but not strictly a sculpture, Connie Baker's art is a mixture of both, creating rich, spatial, textural images, reminiscent of a frieze in ancient architecture. The best way to describe it is a modern type of relief sculpture. Unique fibers and artifacts are embedded into the artwork, and then it is painted with water media.

Wearable Art

I individually hand-paint women's causal wear in mostly 100% garment-dyed cotton tops that are made for me in the USA. I use acrylic paints & dyes, paintbrushes and other mechanisms to put the designs on both front and back of each garment. I create my own designs and I'm the only one who actually does the work. My work is unique in that I am a fine artist painter educated and on scholarship in art since age 11. I switched from canvas to clothing in 1988. Most of my work has a southwest and or American Indian influence in the geometric style & design. My garments offer comfort and pizzazz.

The collaborative art series is what I am most excited about. This series is available as unfinished black and white prints on high-quality watercolor or drawing paper and is intended for the purchaser to complete any way they imagine. Each set is sold with colored pencils or watercolors, but prints can also be completed with acrylics, pastels or any other water-based medium. My hope is that artists will share images of their final products with me, as I view this as a collaborative project. Alternately, this block print-style series is available completed and matted for purchase-not everyone is interested in becoming the artist.
Other items for sale are created by members of the Morgan family and may include (depending on inventory):
• Various artist prints
• Sonoran Desert photography
• Mesquite items
• Handmade accessories
• Ceramics

Each ornament I make out of ceramic. After pouring, cleaning, firing & painting, I use various materials such as clay, fabric, wood, paper, & I paint the pewter pieces in full detail. I then assemble the ornament into the sack that has been made out of ceramic. I have 120 themes.

I am inspired by  Petroglyphs found throughout the Southwest, but have created my own version where I weave a tale in metal of a clan of indigenous peoples who live and work together to survive everyday in the beautiful, scorchingly hot desert. Each piece is carefully crafted in my workshop in Tucson, AZ. The works of art are made of steel then rusted and sealed and each is stamped with my name "WATTO."
