Veterans Arts Programming

Through a unique partnership with the Veterans Administration of Southern Arizona and the Arizona State Veterans Home, each year SAACA provides the opportunity for over 5,000 Veterans to become involved in the arts by presenting free onsite programs each year.
 
SAACA believes the Arts has an impact-physically, emotionally, economically, and educationally-on the lives of service members, Veterans, seniors, families, aging communities, healthcare providers, and the community.

Our programming utilizes multi-disciplinary arts integration programming.
  • Music Therapy for Blind Rehab, Hospice and Critical Care Patients
  • Visual Arts programming for physical and trauma patients
  • Music and Memory Program for Memory Care and Alzheimer's Patients
  • Live Music for Veterans receiving services at the Veterans Administration
  • Creative Writing programs for PTSD recovery program participants
Underwrite no-cost arts therapy for local retired and active duty military Veterans.

Your donation of $25, $50, $75 or more goes directly to support local programming.  100% of your donation stays here in Southern Arizona.
Arts, Health and Well-Being across the Military Continuum

In 2013, Americans for the Arts distributed a new study:  Arts, Health and Well-Being across the Military Continuum—White Paper and Framing a National Plan for Action from the National Initiative for Arts & Health in the Military. National Creative Arts Festival

The Department of Veterans Affairs and the American Legion Auxiliary. The National Veterans Creative Arts Festival (NVCAF) is the celebration and grand finale stage and art show, which are the culmination of talent competitions in art, creative writing, dance, drama and music for Veterans treated in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) national health care system.  Learn More

Community Gallery Projects

SAACA partners with local businesses to bring the original artwork from Veterans to exhibit in their business and public spaces.

Live Music for Veterans

Underwriting annual live music performances at the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration as well as the Arizona State Veterans Home, local performances are produced for Veterans in common spaces and in the hospital based setting for local Veterans. 

Veterans Day Celebration

SAACA and the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration partner to bring music and art to the Veterans Day Celebration and festivities.  With local music performances, artists on display and other creative activities, that arts are alive at the Veterans Administration. 

Arts Therapy for Veterans

SAACA connects artists and art therapists to the VA and State Home systems and helps to underwrite year round no-cost arts therapies, performances and programming for active duty military individuals and Veterans in our community.  The program works directly with the Polytrauma, Critical Care, Hospice, and Blind Rehab Departments at the Veterans Administration, as well as the Arizona State Veterans Home. 

Military Week Celebration

SAACA helps bring local musicians and art performances to celebrate our Veterans and their service as part of the Military Appreciation Week.
