The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance continued collaboration with Roche Tissue Diagnostics offer unique arts experiences in the community The creative community of Southern Arizona captures your imaginations with the opening of the Paperworks exhibit, now open at Roche Tissue Diagnostics' Ventana Gallery. The exhibition features a diverse range of visual works by artists that have unlocked the possbilities of what paper and canvas can become in the proper hands.
Paperworks, The Sonoran Collective for Paper and Book Artists, began nearly twenty-five years ago, inspired by a love of book-making. Today, the Paperworks has blossomed into a community of over 100 Southern Arizonan artists, creating a wonderfully broad collection of original artwork. Artist Vicki Donkersley describes her work as: "a series centering on free form handwriting and mark making on hand painted papers. While bearing little resemblance to the original words scrawled in India ink, cut fragments are reassembled into collages in an exploration of color, value and gesture." Vickie's work will be on display at the Paperwork exhibition. Presented by Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance, the free reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ventana Gallery, 1910 E. Innovation Park Dr., and feature complimentary hors d'oeuvres, light refreshments, and live music. The Ventana Gallery is open to the public, by appointment, Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 4 PM, and on the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 AM. to 2 PM. To schedule an appointment, visitors should call Pat Deely at SAACA at (520) 333-4088. Advance notice of 48 hours is required.
